Hey friends. There is snow in the Baker-area foothills. Any body been skiing? Any reports on where to go, where NOT to go?

Chuckanut Cross Country Skiing 
Although a bit goofy I did ski today in the grass fields west of the BP plant off Grandview road. Three inches of powder on hay stubble. Beutiful views of the coast range, Baker, and the San Juan Islands. Might be nice on the full moon Wednesday night.

Yesterday I broke trail up the main logging road on the west side of Black Mountain, facing Silver Lake (outside of Maple Falls). I used a split board to get maximum float, but I had to come back down the same way as terrain and undergrowth was not amenable to ‘shredding the slopes’. So there’s a pretty good trail there now. I hope someone uses it – it was a lot of work!

Been xcountry skiing in Sudden Valley/lookout Mtn park. Mostly excellent skiing with great coverage for lowland skiing. Didn’t even use my rock skis. Wish I wasn’t working because the last few days have been prime. I did go three nights in a row ending tonight as the inevitable thaw started.
